England Women will look to restore parity in the three-match ODI series in India Women when they play the second ODI at the iconic Lord’s Cricket Ground in London on Saturday, July 19. This is a do-or-die encounter for England, and they would want to keep the series alive, especially after going down 2-3 in the preceding T20I rubber.
In the first ODI at The Rose Bowl in Southampton, England were restricted to 258/6 after winning the toss and opting to bat first. Kranti Goud bagged two wickets with the new ball, and Sneh Rana bagged a couple through the middle overs to deter England’s spirit. Half-centuries from Sophia Dunkley and Davidson Richards helped the hosts to get past the 250-run mark.
In reply, India’s top-order batters got starts but couldn’t capitalise. In the end, a 90-run partnership off 86 balls between Deepti Sharma and Jemimah Rodrigues proved to be the difference between the two sides. The former finished unbeaten on 62, top-scoring for the Women in Blue, who chased the target with four wickets and 10 balls to spare.
