Amit Mishra hails from a lower middle-class family in Delhi. With a passion for cricket ignited from a young age, he initially aspired to be a batsman. However, under the guidance of his mentor Sanjay Bhardwaj, he discovered his talent for leg-spin. Mishra’s journey in domestic cricket began with a move to Haryana in 2000, where he was needed as a leg spinner. Overcoming the challenge of being overlooked by his home state, Mishra quickly established himself as a key player for Haryana, both as a bowler and occasionally with the bat. Despite facing several hurdles, including being on the fringes of the national team for years, Mishra made his international debut in 2003. His breakthrough came in 2008 against Australia in Tests, where he filled in for an injured Anil Kumble and claimed 5 wickets in his debut innings.
